Flame Out, Jets Next (Blackhawks)

Follow me @jaeckel

What can be said about the Hawks' 3-2 OT loss against Calgary yesterday? Corey Crawford gave up at least one goal he shouldn't have and that was the margin of error.

Does the lost point all fall on Crawford? Hard to say.

But Flames goalie Reto Berra came up bigger than Crawford when he needed to. Crawford played the previous afternoon in Winnipeg as did his teammates—3 points out of 4 is nothing to sneeze at—and all can perhaps be given a pass on that basis.

Again, the need for Crawford to play back to back perhaps points to a loss of confidence in the organization in backup netminder Nikolai Khabibulin.

But just when things start to look a little less than rosy, the Jets roll into town, a team the Hawks thoroughly dominated Saturday at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

That said, the Jets beat the Red Wings 4-2 last night, so tomorrow's game cannot be taken for granted.
