The first Saturday night of the season is going to be a glorious one. With thirty teams in action there will be a lot of activity in the fantasy world of hockey! I myself am looking forward to hearing what big Don Cherry has to say during intermission tonight, it’s always a pleasure, and usually a good chuckle listening to his rants.
The only game last night was between the Hurricanes and the Islanders. Quite possibly the most improved team of the off season is the New York Islanders. Last night they showed a solid effort in Carolina and beat them for their home opener. One of the things Islander fans will be pleased about was the effort going into the third period. Last season New York blew too many leads going into the third. Newcomers Johnny Boychuck and Mikhail Grabovski both chipped in a goal; Grabovski’s ended up being the game winner. One of my fantasy sophomore sizzlers Brock Nelson had a huge fantasy night; 2 goals 2 assists and +2 for the youngster. If he is available through free agency in your fantasy pool(s), perhaps not a bad guy to consider…
