Ducks Remain Cool, Calm and Collected with Blackhawks in Town (Ducks)

The Anaheim Ducks are not panicking. In fact, they are using their recent struggles as a reminder that although losing stinks, hockey in general should be fun and it needs to stay that way.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau made that the theme of his last couple of practices in an attempt to get his team back on track.

I love it. Nothing says 'get your act together' like killing 'em with kindness. The Ducks have not been great lately, losing two in a row at Honda Center, including the teams first shutout against this season. They are still the NHL's best team, but the margin for error is shrinking.

A once mighty offense has all but dried up. Will it resurface? Amlittle reassurance from coach Boudreau and a hefty serving of ice cold 'back to the basics' might be all it takes to send the Ducks into the Olympic break on a high note.

With the Chicago Blackhawks in town tonight the Ducks, who are 5-5 in the last 10 games, have a chance to change their fortunes in a big way. Anaheim and Chicago are the NHL's two best teams...with the Ducks holding onto a slim three point lead in the race for the Presidents Trophy.

Trust me, the Hawks really want this game. Tonights winner takes the three game season series, 2-1, and that could come into play mentally should these same clubs meet somewhere down the line in the playoffs. Anaheim needs to come ready for battle.

I have a good feeling about tonight. Despite some recent criticism, Ryan Getzlaf is still bringing it with 12 points in his last 14 games. Corey Perry is dangerous  every time he steps on the ice. The goaltending is still solid and the defense is not as bad as you all like to believe ( yes, even Luca).

No matter then outcome I want to remind all of you, as Bruce did his team, have fun. This has been a great season. Don't let a few losses ruin all the good will this team has built up through these 60ish or so games. Now go rock the Honda Center!

What say you? Ducks or Hawks?
