Ducks Giving New Meaning to the Word "Streak" (Bonino)

Okay kids, the word of the day is "streak." The word "streak" can have several meanings, but the one that matches my intended use is as follows....

"...a period of repeated success or failure" per Merriam-Webster.com

The Anaheim Ducks as a team and its players really like the word 'streak.' Thanks to another great goal from Corey Perry and another big night from Jonas Hiller the Ducks and their 'streaks' seem to keep on keeping on.

Anaheim improved to 22-7-5 (49 points) overall and remain second in the overall NHL, just behind the defending Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

Here are a few of the "streaks" that were extended in last nights win.

- The Ducks stretched the current winning streak to four games with a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild at Honda Center on Wednesday night.

- Anaheim has played 14 games at home this season and has yet to lose in regulation (12-0-2.)

- Corey Perry scored the game-winning goal to extend his goal scoring streak to seven games.

- Ryan Getzlaf picked up and assist to extend his point streak to 15 games.

- Daniel Winnik extended his point scoring streak to three games with an assist on Alex Grants goals.

- Speaking of Grant, he has played in two games for the Ducks this season and has scored a goal in both.

- Andrew Cogliano has a point in three consecutive games after having collected just two in his previous 10 games.

- Jonas Hiller (12-4-4) has won his last three starts. He's also given up less than two goals a game in four straight (3-0-1).

- Kyle Palmieri extended his scoreless streak to six games. Palmieri only has five points (3g 2a) in his last 20 games.

- Teemu Selanne kept his streak alive. He has failed to record a point in his last 16 games.

- Dustin Penner was held off the score sheet for a third straight game.

The Ducks next chance to start, stop or extend a current streak will be Sunday. That means the Ducks have three days in a row off....the streaks just keep on coming!
