Draft Day Update: Isles Draft Michael Dal Colle and Josh Ho-Sang (islanders)

The Isles traded picks 35 and 57 to Tampa to draft Josh Ho-Sang with the 28th pick. There is no question his talent and we all no what the scouts are saying. This is a chance to swing for the fences. ===========================================================

With the fifth the pick the New York Islanders have selected Michael Dal Colle from the Oshawa General of the OHL.

===========================================================

We have reached draft day and the Islanders will have the fifth pick tonight in Philadelphia. After weeks of speculation and trade rumors all is still quiet in Long Island. We all know that the Isles are looking to move the fifth pick but as of right now their is nothing concrete on the table.

The Islanders need to add a top six forward and a top four dman and with their inability to add players via free agency, trades seem like the best option. If the Islanders do not trade the pick, this will become the most important offseason for the Islander brass. They will need to solve their roster problems via free agency and nothing in their recent history suggests they are capable of doing that.

We all know the Islanders have to compete for a playoff spot next season. Garth Snow has been aggressive leading up to the draft, it will be interesting to see how tonight plays out. This will be your draft day thread and I will update this throughout the day with any and all breaking news. As always for more on all things hockey please follow me on twitter at @DanDanNoodles78.
