Devils Sign Ben Johnson to Entry-Level Contract (Ben Johnson)

The Devils have signed one of their prospects, inking Ben Johnson to a three-year entry-level contract.

Johnson, 19, is a two-way forward the Devils selected in the 3rd round of the 2012 NHL Draft.

He set carry highs in goals and points this season, finding twine 28 times and tallying 25 assists for 53 points in 59 games with the Windsor Spitfires. Johnson also produced at a high rate in the playoffs, scoring four times - including a couple short handed goals - and recording six points during a four game sweep.

It's worth noting that the Spitfires are the same team that produced Adam Henrique.

Johnson is a guy who has a non-stop motor and can play in all situations. He's dangerous on the penalty kill, can cycle the puck, and fits into the mould of the current Devils team.

It's possible he'll turn pro and head to Albany next year, but returning to Windsor as a 20-year-old overage player could also be an option.

I doubt he sees time in New Jersey next season, but with a good summer of training and a good showing in training camp, anything is possible.
