The Arizona Coyotes played the Anaheim Ducks last night and won 4-0 in their second pre-season game. Tonight, or if you are on the West Coast, today, the Coyotes will play the Flames. The game will feature the second half of the roster - the part that did not play yesterday - and will be the first of the team's games to be televised so far this exhibition season.
Do I have to tell you that I am excited to see it? I got the PVR all set up and once I get the nerds to bed (i.e my kids), I am finally going to enjoy a little Phoenix Coyotes hockey for the first time in what seems like forever.
I mean Arizona Coyotes. It takes some getting used to, however. Even in my trusty NHL magazine which I update yearly for quick player scouting-report references I keep trying to open it to the middle where the "P" teams are located. I forget that the Coyotes now follow only the Ducks in the alphabetical listings, which ironically would make locating them in the magazine a lot easier if I could remember that's where they were.
Or I guess I could always just use a book-mark. Whatever.
The point is, that it's gonna feel weird writing Arizona instead of Phoenix. You know what won't feel weird though? Referring to the arena as the Gila Monster Arena instead of Jobing.com Arena, which I always hated. Using dot.com outside of the actual internet is annoying and weird and I am glad we don't have to do it anymore.
Tonight's game is in Alberta, but not in Calgary as it is part of a Kraft Hockeyville fou-day hockey festival. The game tonight will feature our first chance to see Max Domi and Henrik Sameulson play this year and I must say, once again, that I am pretty excited about it. Along with Martin Hanzal, the two soon to be rookies combined for a pretty rockin' 9 points on Monday.
Looks like we also get to see Brandon Gormley and my man Oliver Ekman-Larsson tonight as well.
Should be fun. See you after the game.
