Contractual Issues Keeping Bylsma and Shero From Pursuing New Employment? (Penguins)

Dan Bylsma and Ray Shero are not currently employed by an NHL team. Does that have to do with nobody wanting them or are there other things at play?

Multiple sources have told me that there are still contractual issues that are preventing them both from pursuing another job in the NHL. It is why you never hear their names attached to any job openings.

In December Matt Niskanen and Brooks Orpik spoke to Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune

Matt Niskanen had this to say about the situation:

“The organization can say whatever it wants, that it wasn’t sure what it wanted to do, all that stuff,… said Niskanen. “But it was (bull).

“It’s not like Dan was a chump or something, but that’s how he was treated. He won you guys a Cup, you know?…

“I was always treated really well when I was there,… Niskanen said. “But, you know, I have a real problem with how those guys were treated. A lot of guys on the team were very upset by how everything happened.…

Brooks Orpik added the following:

“I definitely have an opinion on it,… Orpik said. “But I don’t think it does any good to share that right now. At the end of the day, it’s people running a business. That’s what you always hear. It’s a cut-throat business. I don’t think anything surprises me anymore.…

Could these quotes be alluding to the contractual issues keeping Bylsma and Shero from being hired?

It is something to follow in the future as more job openings become available.
