The Columbus Blue Jackets currently don't have a captain, and moving forward that's a good bet to change.
I believe head coach Todd Richards has said he'd like one in place by the beginning of the season, and there's several quality options should he elect to name one.
Brandon Dubinsky has consistently been praised for his on-ice play, work ethic and leadership abilities since joining the team, and with him signed for the next seven seasons, the team won't have to worry about him going anywhere. I'd say he's the leading candidate right now.
After Dubinsky, I'd say Jack Johnson is right there with him. Blue Jackets brass is sky-high on Johnson and, like Dubinsky, he's under contract for a while (through 2017-18).
Some dark horse candidates who are a) good players; b) under contract for at least three more seasons; c) experienced and; d) have been with the team for a few seasons are defensemen Fedor Tyutin and James Wisniewski.
My money is on Dubinsky, but only time will tell.
If you're Todd Richards, Columbus' next captain would be...
