Buyer or Seller? Scheifele Out 8-weeks (Winnipeg)

The Jets lost a game last night in OT to the Islanders and depending on your level of empathy you call it a success or a gift point. The Jets struggled to get into the game, making mistakes that even the most junior of kids teams have overcome. It was not a masterpiece.

Captain Andrew Ladd had a big game scoring two goals, the second coming with 5 minutes left in the third to tie the game. It was all for not though as in OT the Jets' Evander Kane failed to make a check in the Islanders end before speedy Michael Grabner blew by Bogosian and slid the puck past Pavelec for the win.

While the loss still gave the Jets a point the bigger loss may be that of Mark Scheifele who sustained an apparent knee injury in a collision during the second period. He did not return and was sent for evaluations to be determined today.

One could expect the worst, a knee or upper leg injury that could keep Scheifele out for significant time... or it could be less severe and just a few weeks. A good guess would be 3-4 weeks based on how he left the ice.

As of right now it is 6-8 weeks according to a tweet from Aaron Ward. I was told this OTR just before writing and was assured 8 weeks out.

What happens now- buyer or seller? If the Jets can accept they had a long shot chance before what do they think now? Does that make Jokinen a player who is now fully available and Setoguchi?

If the Jets decide to stay the course assume Eric O'Dell is brought up and Jokinen moves to the 2nd line and O'Dell anchors the third.

Whatver the solution is things just got very real in Winnipeg today with Mark Scheifele's injury.
