The NY Post is reporting that Jon Jovi has turned off his amp, handed in his guitar pick and has exited stage left from the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment group that has been trying unsuccessfully to buy the Buffalo Bills.
According to the Post, Bon Jovi's former partners Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which controls the NHL’s Maple Leafs and NBA’s Raptors, and Edward Rogers, chairman of Rogers Communications — believe they are in a stronger position to win the Bills auction without Bon Jovi, sources said.
Bon Jovi demanded that he be the lead man in the Buffalo Bills ownership group, which meant that he would have had to pony up 30% of the $1B+ asking price on his own.
With Bon Jovi’s net worth at roughly $300 million, according to sources, the group’s highest bid would have been capped at about $1.1 billion.
Sabres owner Terry Pegula has the financial wherewithal to drive the price as high as he wants it to go in order to win the bid. Sensing that he cannot outbid Pegula, Bon Jovi scurried back to the docks of Joisey begin healing his bruised and battered ego. Bills fans have been hammering Bon Jovi for his motives to want to eventually move the Bills to Toronto in 2020.
A source told the Post that without Bon Jovi that “Rogers is very serious… in buying the Bills. Good luck with that.
Donald Trump and Pegula are the two serious bidders. Final binding bids are due next week.
