Blue Jackets Reject Contract Offer From Johansen's Camp (Blue Jackets)

Training camp opened on Thursday and, though Ryan Johansen just flew back to Vancouver, he's hoping he'll soon take a flight back to Columbus.

This week has been a war of words between the two sides but, through all the noise, both sides are still working towards getting a deal done.

The latest contract proposal came from Johansen's camp in hopes of making his holdout as short as possible.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but what we do know is that it was a) a two-year bridge deal and; b) the Blue Jackets rejected it.

While it's disappointing the sides still haven't gotten a deal done, the fact that Johansen's camp is sending proposals Columbus' way means they don't want this to drag out much longer, and that they're lessening their demands on dollars ($6-6.5M per).

There's still a ways to go, obviously, but the recent movement from Johansen's side is encouraging.
