As we approach the dog days of the summer, Jarmo Kekalainen continues to take care of house keeping, re-signing another restricted free agent in Will Weber.
The 25-year-old defenseman put pen to paper on a one-year, two-way contract extension that will see him remain in Springfield next season barring a barrage of injuries.
Weber had one goal, five points and 100 penalty minutes in 63 AHL games last season. At this point in his career it appears the former 2nd round pick isn't much more than an AHL regular, and will likely remain such for the rest of his pro career.
That said, the Falcons need bodies and from what I understand he's an important player for them.
Meanwhile, Kekalainen is also close to re-signing another restricted free agent, though it's not the one fans are hoping for (Ryan Johansen).
All indications are a deal between #CBJ and RFA D Tim Erixon will be done shortly. Other than Johansen, RFAs should come together quickly.

Teams are always looking for puck-moving defenseman, and talent-wise Erixon's one of the best in the organization in that regard. If he has a good camp I think he'll be in the opening night lineup.
With Weber signed and Erixon nearing an extension, Jerry D'Amigo, who will fight for a 4th line spot, and Johansen are the remaining notable unsigned RFAs.
