Fresh off their sixth consecutive win, the Blue Jackets have announced a trade with the Blackhawks.
With Cody Goloubef set to return and the team happy with recent defense acquisitions Jordan Leopold (trade) and Kevin Connauton (waivers) they deemed Erixon expendable, and shipped him to Chicago for forward Jeremy Morin.
Morin has been in and out of the Blackhawks lineup in recent years, and never really stuck due to the Blackhawks' scoring depth up front.
He was, however, a big scorer in junior with the Kitchener Rangers and is coming off a 47 point in 47 game campaign with the Rockford IceHogs.
Erixon played well this season and was particularly good with James Wisniewski but, again, the team felt he was expendable due to the play of others.
Morin should get a shot in a scoring role with the Blue Jackets, while Erixon should play regularly with a very good Blackhawks team.
I like Erixon and felt he should have been playing nightly with Columbus, but if they were bent on moving him this seems like a reasonable return.
