Having a crazy busy day with phone calls and meetings today. From what I'm hearing, there has been a greatly increased volume of phone calls being made around the league looking for blueline help. That's not surprising, because we're two months into the season and defense injuries always start to mount by this time of the season.
In particular, I'm hearing that the sweepstakes for Tim Gleason is really starting to heat up with as many as a half-dozen teams having interest.
Also, a quick update on Dallas, who have been rumored to be pursuing Gleason with Erik Cole being the player reportedly of interest on the other side. The Stars have lost Stephane Robidas for 4-6 months with a broken leg and just lost Trevor Daley last night for what is expected to be a significant amount of time. That leaves Sergei Gonchar and Alex Goligoski as the only proven vets on their team, although Brenden Dillon already plays like a veteran. I asked if the Stars are stepping up their pursuit of blueline help as was told that they will "go with youth for now" but that it could change.... in a hurry.
