11 pm: The Super Bowl is now over and the SeaHawks are the champions. Due to their 2 point safety early on, many people (including myself) were immediately disinterested in the game as their numbers then became useless.
So, now back in hockey mode for New York.
First off, Mr. Larry Brooks of the NY Post created a little angst among Islander fans with his Slapshot blog http://nypost.com/2014/02/01/king-wont-bring-court-to-sochi/ which indicated a belief that Thomas Vanek, the 30-year-old Austrian will be testing the open market and not resigning with the Islanders. Vanek currently has 47 points in 54 games. He is doing very well with John Tavares. While he has developed a good chemistry with Tavares and Okposo, that may not be enough for him to accept any amount of money that Garth Snow decides to throw at him. This will be a decision made about his future and his family.

Charles Wang didn’t get the Coliseum deal he wanted, but it seems he is dipping his toe back into Long Island real estate again as he has now purchased the embattled Cerro wire property in Plainview.
