Never.
In fact I love the outdoor games. The Winter Classic still remains the Winter Classic to me when it comes to National Buzz, but on local levels the excitement surrounding the outdoor games is awesome. I have been to several of the outdoor games and honestly the lead up and excitement heading into each one is really a thing to behold. The games themselves are probably better viewed on TV, but there is nothing like walking through the tunnel way on a brisk day or night and getting your first look at the rink. The NHL really does this well.
The upcoming season will see a few more outdoor games besides the Classic, the first of which was announced yesterday when it was made public that the Sharks would host the Kings (no score to settle there or anything) at the 49ers new stadium on February 21. It will be almost 80,000 hockey fans watching hockey outdoors in California. Hard to say this ISN'T a great thing for the sport.
