Devils hockey is officially done for the season.
After New Jersey failed to qualify for the post-season, Albany didn't fare much better being eliminated from the playoffs in four games, losing the series to St. John's 3-1.
Despite having tons of NHL talent with the likes of Jon Merrill, Eric Gelinas and Adam Larsson patrolling what had to be one of the best blue lines in the AHL, Albany was flushed away pretty easily.
In four games, the team only scored six goals with Merrill, Mike Sislo, Mattias Tedenby and Darcy Zajac all tied atop the team lead in scoring with two points a piece.
Youngsters Reid Boucher, Stefan Matteau and Gelinas only combined for three points in 12 games in the series, which is likely why Albany is no longer playing hockey. This was the first time any of the three have played playoff hockey in the pros, but with all of them having NHL experience, more was certainly expected.
Keith Kinkaid was the best Albany player in the series, as he posted a 2.26 goals against average, and .932 save percentage despite being able to win only one game.
Between a solid playoff series - albeit a small sample size - and a pretty good regular season in Albany where he went 24-13-5 while posting a 2.29GAA and .912SV%, Kinkaid had a pretty good season.
It'll be interesting to see if the Devils deem it good enough to give him a shot as Cory Schneider's backup next season.
