It was inevitable really that Hawk fans would have a little celebration of sorts upon their team’s return to Boston for the first time since Game 6 of last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs—during which the Hawks snatched the trophy with 2 goals scored in 17 seconds.
But that, as we saw last night, was then.
The Bruins beat the Hawks to pucks all night last night, playing effective three-zone hockey, and shut out the defending champs 3-0.
So it’s on to Ottawa tonight, where the Hawks face a struggling Senators club. Barrington, IL’s (and former Hawk) Craig Anderson gets the start in net for Ottawa.
While Colorado (5th place) has a game in hand, the Hawks are up one point on the Avs. So tonight’s game, and likely every game from here on out is critical in terms of holding home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs. The Hawks can also clinch a playoff birth with 1 point tonight.
Tonight’s game is at 7:30 Eastern and can be seen on CSN Chicago and SportsNet East in Canada.
All for now,
JJ
