After a three-year hiatus where the Blue Jackets were captain-less, the team has finally decided the time is right to name a captain.
While management gave no indication as to who the next captain will be, it's easy to pinpoint the likely candidates.
At the forefront of that list would be Brandon Dubinsky, who has been a well documented leader for the Blue Jackets since coming over from the Rangers.
Another candidate who is likely at or near the top of the list would be Nick Foligno.
Both of these players are a) very good; b) signed long-term and; c) adamant about how much they love Columbus and want to win there, so either would make a lot of sense.
You could also throw Scott Hartnell, Boone Jenner and maybe even Jack Johnson, who the Blue Jackets are oddly incredibly high on, into the list of captain candidates.
I think the Jackets would be best served going with Dubinsky or Foligno as captain, and ultimately I think that's the route they'll go.
