Drama loves Tampa Bay Lightning top prospect Jonathan Drouin.
Six games into his return to the Syracuse Crunch after quitting on the team back in January, Drouin was once again disciplined by the club on Wednesday, though not as serious as the indefinite suspension the Lightning slapped him with then, this time for oversleeping an alarm and missing a team meeting.
And that should be the end of it, really.
While Drouin has become a lightning rod for criticism this year, the 20-year-old has been great in his return to Syracuse, with five goals on 25 shots and six points in six games with the Crunch.
This mistake, which has happened to literally everybody at least once, should not put an end to the idea of the Bolts calling Drouin up for their postseason push, which seems borderline probable if there’s another injury to a player of significant offensive impact to the Lightning.
Drouin, drafted by the Lightning with the third overall pick in 2013, has not played in an NHL game since Dec. 30, has tallied six goals and 40 points in 89 NHL games.
He will be back in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Albany Devils.
