The Jaromir Jagr Effect (Devils)

As soon as Jaromir Jagr mentioned he's open to a trade - should Lou Lamoriello want to pursue it - the consensus was that it makes sense to deal him given where the team is at.

While his best days are behind him, he's still a very good player and would undoubtedly be of help to any contending team that has interest.

At 42 years of age Jagr leads the Devils in scoring, is the team's best possession player, and is someone that indisputably makes everyone around him better.

I took to the numbers to see just how much of an impact Jagr has on his teammates, and how players perform with him on their line as opposed to without him. The results speak for themselves.

As you can see, the Devils get better than 50% of the shot attempts with Jagr on the ice regardless of which players he's with. As impressive as that is, especially for a 42 year old, it's even more staggering when you see how poorly these players fare when they don't have No. 68 on their line.

Each player's Corsi For% is at least 5% lower without Jagr, and in some cases the results vary 10% or more.

When you look at the numbers - either standard or advanced - they all tell you the same thing: Jaromir Jagr is still very, very good.

If and when the Devils decide to move him, he should fetch a pretty good return.
