I hope those of you in the States and Canada enjoyed the Holiday weekend, and I am back to work today after enjoying the beach with family yesterday. Fun times indeed.
There's a lot of talk out there as to why Kris Russell has yet to ink a deal. What I am hearing is he is waiting on a few teams who are still looking to see if they can hit a homerun via trade.
Essentially Boston, Montreal, Edmonton, Detroit and Colorado are all interested in upgrading on defense in a big way. Russell and his agent know that not all of those teams will get there big trade done, and all have budgeted a good number towards that upgrade....
How does this shake out?
I spoke to a well placed source on this today and his guess was as follows:
My source feels Trouba stays put..despite hearty trade efforts from Colorado and Edmonton...and a threatened Boston offer sheet which may have been more bark then bite.
Shattenkirk will end up in Boston....an outside shot at Edmonton...
Fowler will end up in Detroit...who also likes Trouba for sure.
That will leave Russell likely to be in Colorado or Montreal...possibly Toronto.
More to come...
