The Isles have their back against the walls as they head into an elimination game against the Capitals. This also has the potential to be the last game played at the Colesium. Today has all the makings of an emotional day on Long Island.
If the Islanders are going to force a deciding game on Monday they will have to do so with a paper thin defense. Travis Hamonic, Lubomir Visnovsky and Calvin de Haan are all out for the Islanders and it is expected that Matt Donovan and Ryan Pulock will play today.
This will be Pulock's NHL debut, no pressure kid. Game 6, season on the line, struggling power play. That is the pressure facing Pulock today. We all know he has the talent and the slap shot to make a difference. I just hope he isn't overwhelmed by the moment.
New York will clearly have it's back against the wall today. Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals have beat up the Isles physically the past couple of games. The Islanders need to show some heart. Some pride. Don't let today shut down this old barn. Whatever happens Monday happens but today is the day to make that stand. The place will be rocking, don't perform like the disaster that was Game 5. It is time to leave it all out there and defend the Fort one last time.
