Announcing is a very subjective art form. No matter how great an announcer is there will always be some people that don't care for their work. This can be annoying during the playoff season when there are limited options on who is calling the games.
Years ago when Mark Cuban's HDNET used to have NHL rights they had a great segment during each broadcast called "Sounds of the Game". The segment had the announcing crew stay silent during game action. It was only for a few minutes but it was great. Then the crew would come back and it was a bummer.
Good news for you. You don't have to listen to announcers anymore if you don't want to.
Find the SAP button on your remote. The next time a hockey game is on and you don't like the announcing, hit the SAP button. No more announcers. You are left with just the sounds of hockey with nobody talking over the game action.
And just for fun we can refer to it as the Shutup Annoying Pierre button moving forward.
You may find out you like the announcers more than you think, but at least now you have an option.
