Sergei Bobrovsky's Injury The Final Blow To Blue Jackets' Season (Ryan Murray)

The Blue Jackets have been dealing with injury problems all year, and their playoff aspirations may have just suffered the final blow.

Having already been playing without core players such as Nathan Horton, Boone Jenner, Artem Anisimov and Ryan Murray, the team will now be without their star goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

According to Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch, Bobrovsky's injury will keep him out of the lineup for a while.

Via BlueJacketsXtra: Bobrovsky suffered an injured groin. He is a scratch — for another month, at least.

In large part due to injury problems, the Blue Jackets find themselves well out of a playoff spot with less than half of a season remaining.

While they had plenty of work to do, a playoff spot was somewhat attainable. Now the chances of making the postseason are slim to none. SportsClubStats.com suggests the Blue Jackets will need to go 24-9-4 (or better) down the stretch to have a decent shot at earning a playoff berth.

That's a tall order for any team; especially one that's missing several key players, including arguably the most important player on the team.

Injuries put the Blue Jackets behind the eight-ball since the word go, so it's only fitting they put the final nail in Columbus' season.
