Schwartz signs 5 year deal, $5.35 million AAV (jaden schwartz)

Beating their arbitration hearing date by five days, the Blues and Jaden Schwartz agreed to a five year, $26.75 million contract with an AAV of $5.35 million. The deal also appears to have a modified no-trade clause in the last two years with Schwartz being able to submit a list of 15 teams to whom he cannot be traded/

If the deal would have gone longer, the AAV would likely have crept up to @ $6 million AAV. The deal completely falls within the market I tried to establish here and here. It fell right around Jeff Skinner's deal as I suggested. It fell below Wheeler and Forsberg but above Zuccarello. The deal is above Trochek but below Barkov and Scheifele.

All in all, the deal hit very close where I would have slotted it. Much like in some trade data, it sometimes is amazing how much insight logic can give you into situations.

More on the Blues cap situation and roster in the coming weeks.

ETA - Goalie prospects Jordan Binnington and Phoenix Copley also signed 1 year deals. Expect them both to play for the Chicago Wolves next season.

It's a great day for hockey.
