Report: Daniel Pribyl To Sign With Calgary Flames (Flames)

For the third time in four years the Calgary Flames have dipped into the European free agent market to try and add some talent.

Joining the fold this time will be Daniel Pribyl, a 6'2' 23-year-old forward from Czech Republic.

Via the Calgary Sun: "Flames GM Brad Treliving isn’t commenting but a source says the contract Pribyl will ink with Calgary will be a two-year, two-way deal. The deal can’t officially be consummated until his season with Sparta Praha is over, which could be a week or two away as the team just started the final."

After tallying 62 points in 109 games from 2012-2015 Pribyl enjoyed a breakout year this past season recording 45 points in 45 games, good for top spot on the team.

Production overseas doesn't always translate to the NHL (see Roman Cervenka) but it leaves reason to be optimistic.

Whether Pribyl turns out or not remains to be seen but, for a team looking for scoring depth, it can't hurt to bring over a young player who put up the numbers he did last season.

If Pribyl pans out, great. If he does not the Flames didn't invest much more than a couple bucks to bring him over.

Either way, it can't hurt to give him a shot.
