Detroit Red Wings fans won’t have to wait long to size up former coach Mike Babcock behind the bench of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Detroit’s 2015-16 NHL pre-season schedule was unveiled Tuesday and among the Wings’ four home games at Joe Louis Arena is an Oct. 2 date against Babcock and the Leafs.
After 10 years at the helm of the Red Wings, Babcock left the team last month and accepted an eight-year, $50-million pact to coach the Maple Leafs.
Detroit will also travel to Toronto to close out its exhibition slate Oct. 3. Other road games include visits to Chicago (Sept. 22), Boston (Sept. 28) and Pittsburgh (Sept. 30).
The Blackhawks (Sept. 23), Penguins (Sept. 24) and Bruins (Sept. 26) are also slated to visit Joe Louis Arena.
