The Detroit Red Wings revealed Tuesday that forward Teemu Pulkkinen and defenseman Alexey Marchenko both recently underwent surgery. Marchenko is expected to be ready to go in time for training camp in September but Pulkkinen will likely miss the start of the regular season.
Pulkkinen underwent shoulder surgery early last month in his native Finland and is likely to require 4-6 weeks of rehab. Pulkkinen dislocated his shoulder in December and felt further discomfort following the world championship.
“We are expecting him to be ready to go early in the season,… Detroit general manager Ken Holland said.
Marchenko underwent a minor surgical procedure on his wrist a couple of weeks ago in his homeland of Russia.
“He played all winter with it,… Holland said of the lingering problem with Marchenko’s wrist. “It didn't get better in the summer.

Arbitration Filed Two members of the Red Wings organization were among the 24 players who filed for arbitration on Tuesday, and one settled on a new deal quickly.
Defenseman Danny DeKeyser, a restricted free agent, was the only member of the current Detroit roster to file. If he were to go to arbitration, he’d agree to a one-year deal and would be eligible for unrestricted free agency at season’s end, so expect the Wings to get his name on a contract long before his arbitration hearing.
The other player to file was Grand Rapids goalie Jared Coreau. Coreau, 24, posted career highs in games (47), minutes (2742), wins (29) and shutouts (six) with the AHL Griffins in 2015-16. Late Tuesday, he agreed to a two-year deal that would pay him $575,000 in the NHL next season and $150,000 in the minor leagues. The second year is a one-way deal worth $650,000.
Detroit hasn’t gone to arbitration with a player since Ray Sheppard in 1995.
Minor Matters While the big-name signings drew the headlines on July 1, the Wings also added three free agents to their minor-league system – forwards Matt Lorito and Ben Street and goaltender Edward Pasquale.
The 5-9, 170-pound Lorito, 25, posted 18-36-54 numbers with the AHL Albany Devils, leading the team in assists and points. Street, 29, has appeared in 29 NHL games, including seven last season with the Colorado Avalanche.
Pasquale, 25, split the 2015-16 season between St. John’s (AHL) and Brampton (ECHL). In 30 games with the AHL’s IceCaps, he was 13-10-3, with a 2.62 goals against average, and a .919 save percentage.
Future Look Defenseman Dennis Cholowski, Detroit’s top pick in the 2016 NHL entry draft, will be one of two first-round picks in action as the Red Wings open their development camp Wednesday in Traverse City, Mich.
Right-winger Evgeny Svechnikov, Detroit’s 2015 first-round draft pick, will also be on hand. Svechnikov is slated to turn pro this fall, while Cholowski will play NCAA hockey at St. Cloud State.
The 39-player roster includes 23 forwards, 11 defensemen and five goaltenders, and will see all of Detroit’s 2016 draft picks on the ice.
