Game Summary You get a goal and you get a goal and you get goal!
The Blue Jackets hammered the Montreal Canadiens putting up a franchise record 10 goals! This was a complete team effort with all but two players failing to record a point. Montreal started this game off really poorly, not unlike the game they played previously against the Canucks. The Blue Jackets, unlike the Canucks, were able to capitalize on their abundance of chances. Columbus also had Sergei Bobrovsky in net who stopped what few chances Montreal had, on route to his third shutout of the season.
The Jackets had everything going for them tonight. Their league leading power play was back at it, scoring four goals in five opportunities. Cam Atkinson scored two of the power play goals, with Nick Foligno and Scott Hartnell scoring the other two. For Cam those were his third and fourth goals of the season. All of his goals have come on the power play.
Hartnell also scored two goals; he is now up to four goals as well tying him with Atkinson and Foligno for the team lead. Folingo had three points in the game, adding to his team leading total. He is now up to 12 points in nine games, with four goals and eight assists. He is already a third of the way to his point total last year and we are less than 10 games into the season. He has looked really strong to start the year and hopefully can keep it going.
Josh Anderson was one of the most impressive players in the game tonight. He scored two goals and added an assist. His one goal was a bit of a fluke but his assist was very nice.

He does a great job to win a puck battle down low and take possession of the puck. He then makes a really good pass to Seth Jones who was wide open, and he buried it. Anderson is another player who has started really strong. He has definitely established himself as an NHL player and a game like this shows you what he brings to the ice. He has great size and strength and started to use it to his advantage, winning battles and getting to the net. He also has the skill to start and finish off plays like this:

So many players had big nights tonight. Alexander Wennberg had four assists; William Karlsson had two assists, and Zach Weresnki continued to impress, recording two more assists. His assist on the Jackets fifth goal was a thing of beauty.

He surveys the ice and sees Folingo alone on the side of the net. He makes a perfect slap pass across the ice to him. Werenski has 10 points in his first nine games in the NHL. He is poised to blow past my projection of 22 points. Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine are getting all the attention but Werenski is right in the middle of the Calder trophy race.
