Post Battle #72 vs New Jersey Devils (Blue Jackets)

Final Score: Devils 2 – Blue Jackets 1

Game Summary

Both teams were sluggish in this one. Playing an evening game on the back half of a back to back will do that. Scott Wedgewood made his NHL debut in net for the Devils and picked up his first NHL win. The Jackets could only muster up one goal the day after they scored six, and the Devils won 2-1.

Oliver Bjorkstrand fresh off his two goal performance yesterday didn’t have the same impact in this one. He was only able to get one shot on goal, though he did finish with a strong 59.09% Corsi. One thing I've noticed is Bjork does a real nice job at gaining the zone with possession. It gives him a chance to create that space for himself.

Perhaps Bjork was just missing his centre? Alexander Wennberg missed the game with an undisclosed injury. As has been a theme this season, the team is keeping quiet on this. Hopefully Wennberg won’t be out too long.

Jared Boll drew into the lineup and managed to score a goal. He tipped home Dalton Prout’s point shot.

For Boll that is his first goal of the season and first since February 15th 2015.

Recently recalled Joonas Kopisalo received the start. Curtis McElhinney was shutdown with the knee injury prompting the Korpi recall. He was fine; he didn’t get a ton of action as the Jackets did well to limit the Devils’ chances. He stopped 20 of 22 for a .909 save percentage.
