Game Summary
For the second game in a row Jackets played a real clunker. This time though they did not have Sergei Bobrovsky bail them out. The Bruin’s chased Bobrovsky with four first period goals, a deficit the Jackets could not come back from.
The Jackets actually had the lead in this one scoring the opening goal. Nick Foligno scored his fifth of the season off a great feed from Alexander Wennberg.

That goal ties Foligno for first on the team with Josh Anderson. His 13 points are second behind Wennberg. Last season it took Folingo until December 17th to get his fifth goal and December 5th for him to get 13 points. Folingo is benefiting from some good fortune right now; he is shooting 31.3% after shooting just 8.1% last season in all situations. He is not going to shoot 30% all season so regression is coming, but if he settles around his career average of 12.1% he will have a good season.
Wennberg’s strong start to the season continued. He has 14 points in 12 games, with 13 assists. He’s a tremendous passer and just keeps showing it game after game. Ideally you want to see him shoot more but until teams start adjusting to him and take away his passing lanes more, he doesn’t have to. Let him keep passing as long as the lanes are there.
After that first goal the Bruins just took over the game. It was hard to fault Bobrovsky entirely; he did not have much help. He did not play well stopping just five of nine shots before being yanked. He has been so strong all season so this game doesn’t change anything about that. It has not taken long to see the impact Seth Jones has on this entire d-core. Dalton Prout in particular struggled in this one. This is where the coaching staff has to step up and change how the team plays to off-set the loss of Jones.
The other goal the Jackets scored was actually an own goal by the Bruins.

Sam Gagner lost the draw but credits for the goal, as the Bruins player skates it into his own net. That is definitely the easiest goal Sam Gagner will ever score in his NHL career.
