Despite amassing 85 regular season wins over the last two seasons the Blue Jackets enter this year's draft with a boat load of draft picks to help ensure an even brighter future.
As of now Jarmo Kekalainen and co. have 10 draft picks at their disposal including the 8th overall pick as well as six in the top-69 of the draft.
The Blue Jackets are obviously well equipped to do some damage in this year's draft class and the numbers suggest only the Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes - the teams picking 1-2-3 in this year's draft - have more combined pick value.

If you don't include the difference between 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 8th overall in pick value (take out Edmonton, Buffalo, Arizona and Columbus' top pick) only the Oilers have more value than Columbus and that's because they also own the 16th pick.
Obviously the Blue Jackets have to choose the right players in order to maximize the value of their picks but history suggests only three teams have a better chance of drafting more NHL regulars - players who dress in 200+ games - at the end of the month.
That's certainly encouraging for a team that already has a bright future in store.
