Phil Kessel was playing hurt during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This isn't very unique considering many players play hurt during the playoffs, but Kessel's surprise injury has surgery attached to it.

Not many other details about the surgery yet, but I hopefully it won't cost him any game action in 2016-17.
Dude played pretty great with whatever the injury was. There was at least an equally strong argument for Kessel to win the Conn Smythe as Sidney Crosby. The injury also didn't hamper his ability to lift the Stanley Cup over his head in the celebrations to follow.
