Instead of analyzing a game where the Penguins are missing Malkin, Letang, and Ehrhoff causing the team to only play with five defensemen I am going to keep things lighthearted today.
These tweets caught my interest.
Marc Andre Fleury changed from yellow to white gear in the middle of the 07-08 season after a Ottawa optometrist said yellow stands out..1/3

.. more to the human eye than any other color. Players see the pads better in yellow and shoot around them. This year he's brought back..2/3

..the yellow gear going 4-5-2 with a 2.92 GAA and a .901 S%. Way off his 2.26 GAA and .921 S% entering tonight's game. White is best!! 3/3

Way back in October I actually did break down the differences between Fleury's even-strength save percentage based on pad color from earlier in his career.
This is what I found then.
And here are Fleury's stats for the 2014-15 season:
My numbers do not line up with Mr. Biron's research for two reasons:
First, I have taken even-strength save percentage to stay in line with my earlier "research".
The second reason is that I believe Martin Biron has included game stats from the October 22nd game against Philadelphia and the November 15th game against the New York Rangers. Both instances the Penguins did in fact wear their third jerseys, but Fleury did not wear his yellow pads. Fleury has only worn his yellow pads nine games to date, not eleven.
What does this mean? Nothing. It is just for fun. The Penguins won't be using their third jerseys for the playoffs anyways.
@Bobby7Johns We will be wearing the regular home jerseys.

****
Congratulations to Sidney Crosby on goal number 300.
In the Pengiuns last 7 games without Malkin, Crosby has 8 points. Nobody else on the team has more than 2. only 4 players have more than 1.

Do more Sid...
Malkin is out 2-4 days, according to Johnston. Says it isn't serious.
