“Our goal all along was to solidify the franchise both on and off the ice,… Lemieux said. “Our star players are signed to long-term contracts, they’ve got a deep and passionate base to support them, and I believe the Penguins are well-positioned for the future. Regardless of what happens, I plan on staying involved with the team in some capacity, and Ron and I plan to retain an ownership stake.…
Mario may not be a majority owner but it seems like he still wants to be involved with the team on a lesser scale, at least enough to keep his luxury box:
Lemieux told close friends last summer he wanted to sell all but a small portion of his share, holding a stake that would allow him to keep a title and use of a luxury box at Consol Energy Center, sources said.
Potentially driving up the value of the Penguins is the ability to develop land around the arena
It controls redevelopment rights at the old Civic Arena site. A $440 million Lower Hill District project broke ground in late March, the intent to bolster office, residential and retail development on the site. A vote by the Pittsburgh Planning Commission approved construction of the future U.S. Steel headquarters on the 28-acre site.
For those that are hoping for Mark Cuban to swoop in, don’t.

had the same interest he had in the past. He replied, "No. I didn't have a family back then." So that avenue appears out.

Also worth noting that Mark Cuban is not known to invest in opportunities where they are at their highest value anyways.
GM Jim Rutherford said Pascal Dupuis is "clot-free" but "there are other things from a medical point of view that have to be looked at."

This is very good news. From what I understand the next step in the process will be evaluating what medicines make the most sense to keep that clot from reforming again. Certain medications do not lend itself to playing a professional sport. If they can find one that allows Dupuis to play I fully expect him to be a contributing member of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2015-16.
Chicago remains the favorite, but it is nice to see Pittsburgh being mentioned here.
BTW, Rangers are another team Mike Reilly will meet with Thursday. So, that's CHI, MIN, NYR, LA. Wouldn't surprise if PIT was involved, too.
