Just a few days after filing for arbitration Kyle Palmieri has reached an agreement on a new contract with the New Jersey Devils.
The 25-year-old winger put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth $4.65 million per season.
The contract breaks down as follows:
2016-17: $4,500,000 2017-18: $4,500,000 2018-19: $5,000,000 2019-20: $5,000,000 2020-21: $4,250,000
Some were wary of giving him a long-term deal after one good season but prior to his days in New Jersey he posted very good rate stats and the numbers suggested with more opportunity the big numbers would come.
That obviously proved to be true as in his first season as an undisputed top-6 forward he scored 30 goals and tallied 57 points.
In extending Palmieri for five years the Devils locked him up through the rest of his prime at a very friendly cap hit.
Well done, Ray Shero.
