Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray makes it a habit to call and check in with every GM in the NHL. Murray prised himself on being plugged in and aware of all situations that are occurring in both conferences. Murray is a scout's scout. He is all about gathering and disseminating intel. He is listens 80% and speaks 20%. That is why he is so successful. Murray will tell you that it is an important facet of his job to listen to his NHL GM counterparts.
On Friday, Murray was guest on WGR radio in Buffalo during the supper hour.
Per usual, he answered questions honestly and candidly. He liked what he has seen from Robin Lehner in Rochester and is looking forward to the Big Swede getting back in the net for the Sabres. Regarding Mark Pysyk being scratched the past two games after being recalled from his three game conditioning stint in Rochester, Murray said to ask Dan Bylsma because he is the coach. Regarding the play of Linus Ullmark, Murray said he liked what he saw of the large Swede tender and that its his opining that Ullmark will be a top ten goalie in the NHL in the future.
Murray was then asked to comment about disgruntled Tampa Lightning forward Jonathon Drouin.
The usually verbose Murray clammed up rather quickly. He then said that he continues to communicate with Tampa GM Steve Yzerman.

Murray said that he knows about the situation where the player has asked for a trade. He knows the position that Yzerman is in.
I like Murray's comments on the Drouin-Yzerman stand-off.
