Mike Reilly watch is heating up.
The 21-year-old blue liner is set to become an unrestricted free agent on June 15th and there is no shortage of suitors for his services.
Reilly, a 4th round pick of Columbus in 2011, tallied 42 points in 39 games with the University of Minnesota as a Junior this past season. He's not a one hit wonder, though, as he registered 33 points in 2013-14 and has combined to record 75 points in 80 games over the last two seasons.
As you would expect he has a long list of teams after him and he is using the NHL draft combine to speak to a good chunk of them.
The 9 clubs Reilly meeting with: CHI, CBJ, DET, EDM, LA, MIN, MTL, NYR, PIT. Reilly officially becomes UFA on June 16.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) June 4, 2015There are some excellent hockey teams in there but it should come as no surprise that the Chicago Blackhawks are the favorites to land his services.
They could offer him an immediate spot on their blue line and are able to give him the same amount of money as anyone else (a max entry-level deal).
The Blackhawks are gunning for their 3rd Stanley Cup in six years and will continue to contend going forward so it's not hard to see why they're high on Reilly's list.
It will be interesting to see if he ends up there when all is said and done, but as of right now I'd hazard a guess and say the rich will get richer.
