Mike Reilly Meeting Teams At NHL Combine (NHL)

Mike Reilly is not yet an unrestricted free agent but he can talk to other teams.

Reilly, who had 42 points in 39 games with the University of Minnesota last season, is certainly taking advantage of that opportunity, as he is expected to meet with approximately eight NHL teams at the NHL combine.

None of the three teams Elliotte Friedman mentioned as possibilities are a surprise.

The Chicago Blackhawks are apparently the apple of Reilly's eye and he's been linked to them for weeks now.

The Minnesota Wild have also long been mentioned as a potential landing spot - Reilly's dad is a minority owner there and he played college hockey in Minnesota - and the Los Angeles Kings have been a powerhouse team in recent years. They want to add to their blue line and would surely be an attractive option for Reilly.

I'm sure other teams will be considered as well.

While Reilly has not yet ruled out the Columbus Blue Jackets it seems unlikely at best that he'll sign in Columbus.

The Blue Jackets can't offer him any more money than he'd get elsewhere - any team would give him a max entry-level contract - and there are probably contenders after him that would willingly promise him a spot on their NHL roster.

Where Reilly signs when he officially becomes an unrestricted free agent is anyone's guess - I'd put my money on Chicago - but there's nothing to suggest it will be Columbus.
