A tough year just got tougher for Devils forward Stefan Matteau.
After missing the playoffs in Albany and New Jersey, Matteau agreed to represent his country at the World Championships in order to extend his season.
Unfortunately Matteau won't be able to do that, as he suffered a hand injury that will keep him out of the tournament.

— Mike Morreale (@mikemorrealeNHL) May 2, 2015USA has a good defense core, but their forward group is made mostly of depth NHL players and college kids, so Matteau likely would have been given a nice chunk of minutes.
After recording just 27 points in 61 AHL games, and one point in seven NHL games, it would have been nice for Matteau to play for his country and try to end the season on a high note.
Unfortunately he won't get that opportunity.

Devils prospect John Quenneville continues to pile up the points after a mediocre regular season. Quenneville scored a pair of goals in Brandon's 8-2 win over Calgary on Friday night, which gives him 10 goals and 19 points in 15 playoff games this year.
Quenneville's Wheat Kings have advanced to the WHL Final, where they'll have a chance to not only win the league, but also earn themselves a spot in this year's Memorial Cup.
The Wheat Kings will go up against a stacked Kelowna team that features Leon Draisaitl, Josh Morrissey, and Nick Merkley, among others, or a Portland Winterhawks team led by Nic Petan and Oliver Bjorkstrand.
It will be a tough task either way, and I expect a long series regardless of the opponent.
