So the Edmonton Oilers have announced Kevin Lowe is now no longer involved in hockey operations, but will stay on in a business capacity. This comes on the heels of Chiarelli going to Edmonton to interview, and of course the great fortune of the Oilers winning the Connor McDavid sweepstakes. I for one feel the Oilers are making the right move here. There needs to be accountability for the disastrous few seasons and a fresh start with new management coming from outside the organization can only help at this point.
The Oilers need to make need to make a trade or two to right this ship. It is not going to be as simple as McDavid coming in and saving the day. You could put Sidney Crosby himself on this team right now and they wouldn't be assured a playoff spot. And if someone is going to make those kinds of sweeping changes it should be someone who wasn't a part of putting together this current Group.
