The 2015 NHL Draft Lottery goes tonight and, though unlikely, there's a chance the Devils will win the right to draft Connor McDavid 1st overall.
New Jersey may not be a complete tire fire like Buffalo, however, the Devils' future up front isn't looking too great, and with a little luck that could change in one night.
The Devils enter the lottery with a 7.5% chance of winning. That doesn't leave a lot of room to be optimistic, but they won the lottery with a 3.6% chance (less than half that) a few years ago, so it's certainly not out of the question.
To put into perspective how wide open this lottery is, the NHL's two worst teams - Buffalo and Arizona - have a combined 33% chance of winning the lottery. That means 2/3 draws neither team will win McDavid.
This could go many different ways, so the Devils are just hoping for a win in a year they didn't get many.
