Unlike many past drafts, the Islanders are in a much different spot today. The most interesting thing right now would be Isles G.M. Garth Snow's phone records. All is quiet right now but if anything occurs I will be updating this thread throughout the night.
The Isles have traded former first round Griffin Reinhart to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2015 First and Second Round Pick. With the 16th pick in the draft the Isles selected Matthew Barzal of the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds. In only 44 games this season, Barzal tallied 12 goals and added 45 assists.
I'll have more reaction to the draft after it is all said and done but we all know how I feel about Griffin Reinhart. He was over matched in the AHL and the red flags were waiving. I'm not labeling him a bust but he has so much work to do and is at least one year away from being a regular NHL'er.
Isles move up to the end of the 1st round and draft Anthony Beauvillier of the QMJHL.
With the 82nd overall pick, the isles select defenseman Mitchell Vande Sompel of the OHL's Oshawa_Generals.
With the 112th overall pick, the Isles select defenseman Parker Wotherspoon of the WHL's Tri-City Americans.
With the 147th overall pick, the #Isles select defenseman Ryan Pilon of the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings.
