Since the Second Round will be beginning tomorrow it's time to play everyone's favorite game....
Who is the new matchup Stanley Cup Champion?
For those keeping track...The Matchups only missed two series in the first round (so far) As only the Flyers (who a very slight advantage in the last three regular seasons) and the Panthers have fallen....and of course the Ducks series is still to be determined...(Ducks are the matchup favorite)
The first round matchup predictions were: Flyers over Caps in 7 (Caps won in 6, but were one goal away from facing a game 7) Penguins over Rangers in 5 (Correct) Panthers over Islanders in 6 (Isles won in 6, but 3 games in OT) Lightning over Red Wings in 6 ( Bolts won in 5) Ducks over Preds in 7 (still possible) Sharks over the Kings in 7 (Sharks won in 6) Stars over Wild in 6 (Correct) Blues over Blackhawks in 7 (Correct)
So let's move on to the second round...
Eastern Conference Caps over Pens in 7. The Caps have won 5 of the last 9. Pens won 3 of 5 this season.
NY Isles over Tampa in 7 The Isles have won 4 of the last 6 including 2 of 3 this season.
Western Conference Blues over Stars in 6. The Blues have won 7 of the last 10 including 4 of 5 this season.
If Ducks Win: Sharks over Ducks in 7. The Sharks have won 5 of the last 9, The Ducks won 3 of 5 this season.
If Preds win: Preds over Sharks in 7 The teams have split the last 6, but Nashville won 2 of 3 this season.
Conference Finals:
Caps over Islanders in 5. Caps have won 5 of 8, not losing any in regulation, including taking 4 of 5 this year.
If Ducks win: Sharks over Blues in 7. Teams have split the last 6, but Sharks won 2 of 3 this season.
If Preds Win: Blues over Preds 6. Blues have won 6 of 10 including 4 of 5 this season.
Final:
If Preds win game 7 Blues over Caps in 7 Blues have won 3 of the last 4, teams split 1-1 this season.
If Ducks win game 7 Sharks over Caps in 7 Sharks have won 3 of 4, including both meetings this season.
