It's a toss up between Detroit and Boston, I think, but I'm going to go with the Red Wings.
They're the worst offensive team of the bunch (in terms of goals per game) and their goaltending has been horrible for a while now.
Since February 1st the Red Wings have a .905SV% at 5 v 5. The only team with worse goaltending in that span is the Winnipeg Jets. In that span the Red Wings have the league's 4th worst 5 v 5 goal differential, too.
Simply put they're not playing well. The Bruins aren't either, but I think they'll get in. For my money Philadelphia is the biggest sure thing of the bunch.
Jason Lewis My gut just keeps telling me it's Detroit that will be the odd team out.
Philly has the games in hand, despite having a pretty tough schedule. But I think with Boston they have the goaltending, and with Philly they just have something to them. Maybe it's the enthusiasm of young players or the will to survive, but I think they have enough to get them over the hump.
Detroit just does not feel like they have much to offer to stay in. The biggest thing will be the Philly v Detroit game on April 6th in Detroit. That might be a winner moves on sort of thing.
James Tanner I think it will be Detroit. They rely too much on their declining veterans at the expense of younger player and they are also on a terrible slide.
Plus, both other teams are getting better recent goaltending. Finally, never bet against the team with Bergeron. Just never do it.
