In this edition of the hotstove we discuss whether sending Dylan Strome back to junior was the right move for the Arizona Coyotes.
Todd Cordell I would have liked to see Strome given a legitimate opportunity to make an impact but I think sending him back to junior is probably best for the team regardless.
The Coyotes are terrible again this year. They have lost a ton of games in the early going of the season and there's nothing to suggest that's going to change. Strome may not learn a lot from another year in Erie but at least he'll dominate and win a ton of games. In Arizona he'd be losing all the time and the Coyotes would burn a year off his ELC when there's not really a point.
I have no problem with this move.
James Tanner They made the right move right now, but they only had to make that move because they made a series of wrong moves.
Strome hasn't had a chance to play a lot, play the PP, or play with good players. He has been treated abominably and now he has to go back and play in junior in a league he's twice put up 100 + points in.
It's no way to treat your best prospect and it's no way to run a hockey team. If Dylan Strome was given quality linemates and 17 or so minutes every night a scoring line, he would be successful in the NHL today.
This is the first black mark against Chayka's run as GM and a pretty good reason to fire Dave Tippett.
