Hotstove: Early Takeaways From The 2016 Playoffs (Lightning)

Todd Cordell

The Tampa Bay Lightning are really, really good.

They didn't put their best foot forward in Game 3 but they've undoubtedly been the better team in the series despite playing without a top pairing defenseman and one of the NHL's best goal scorers.

I normally would have picked the Lightning in the series but, because of their injuries, I picked the Wings in 7. It still could happen, but the Wings are having even more difficulty than I expected given the Lightning's injuries.

Jason Lewis The Parity amongst the top teams is absolutely incredible. Outside of maybe one series (Washington Philly, and Game 1 of Dallas-Minny), they have all been really close games that could have gone either way. You can make all the predictions in the world based on systems, stats, and what have you, but man these feel so close when watching them. Like a good bounce one way or another could completely decide the game or make a huge impact. The quality is real, the parity is real.
