Been busy all morning chasing down some interesting rumors, one involving a team that's trying desperately to move into the top floor in the draft parentheses (more on that later) and then there is Ken Hitchcock.
This weekend wasn't fair or good to ex-Flyers coaches. Peter Laviolette and the Nashville Predators definitely deserved better fate. Injuries are always excuses, that was how close the games against the Blackhawks were, I can't help but think we'd be staring a Game 7 if Shea Weber were in the lineup. Not having Weber is an enormous issue. He's not only their best player, but basically the quarterback of all they do defensively. And not having Shea also affected goaltender Pekka Rinne in a very negative way. Rinne often found himself trying to do too much, and overplaying the puck. All that said, It was a great year in Nashville and Peter will be back.
Meanwhile in St. Louis, Ken Hitchcock might not be so lucky. And if the Blues decide not to bring him back, look out. Toronto and San Jose are both "in the wings" according to a source this morning.
